Position: Free Zone Intern

Job description


  • Assist the Free Zone Manager in Free Zone activities aimed at revenue generation.
  • Ensure receipt of shipping documents from all enterprises;
  • Prepare response to enterprise requests for clearance for approval by the COO and ensure onward submission to Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA);
  • Assist in maintenance of the existing Alaro City Free Zone Registry on Egnyte;
  • In close coordination with the Free Zone Operations Manager, collate all registration documents and prepare cover letter to be signed by the COO for subsequent submission to the NEPZA’s headquarters in Abuja ;
  • Procurement and collate of immigration documents on behalf of enterprises for onward submission to NEPZA zone administrator;
  • Collect departmental information for quarterly returns to be reviewed and approved by the COO in readiness for submission to the zone administrator;
  • Receive and process enterprises’ request for registration of vehicles with NEPZA/FRSC by acquisition of all supporting documentation and plate numbers;
  • Support in the administrative tasks related to the registration of clients with the required regulatory bodies within the zone and ensuring operating licences are issued promptly;
  • Support to obtain all supporting documents for processing Subject To Regularization (STR) Visa with NEPZA; work permits and other documents authorizing stay in the zone;
  • Support in the documentation of locally purchased goods from Nigeria Customs Territory to the free zone to avoid duplicity of charges bourne by clients;
  • Support to prepare reports on Free Zone related matters as required by the Free Zone Operations Manager;
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Free Zone Operations Manager


Hard skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience or any similar combination of education and experience (experience during NYSC or internships while in school acceptable)
  • Experience in free zone management would be a plus
  • Demonstrable knowledge of free zone regulations, policies and requirements;

Soft skills:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Task oriented, initiative driven, and enthusiastic.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Good IT skills; and
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in administration
  • Hands-on, ready to roll up the sleeves.
  • The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management
